Growing up, I was an avid reader of Vogue and followed fashion magazines like they were my religion. I even spent much of my high school career trying to become a runway model in Atlanta by attending casting calls regularly with a popular agency here. While the runway model aspirations died with the passing of my 19th birthday, my attraction for fashion and clothes worth investing in never waned.
One thing that has always stuck with me growing up is quality over quantity. I have a very small handbag collection because I’m very particular about the pieces I bring home. It not only has to be made of quality leather, but it must serve me both at work and on the weekends. I need my handbags to be timeless so I can carry them for decades (so long as I preserve them well), but sometimes I want something punchy. I have a laundry list of qualifications that a handbag must pass before I whip out my credit card and turn my eyes away from the price tag as the shop assistant slides the card in her register.
I believe growing up riding horses has contributed to my love of fine leather goods as well. There is something about the feel of new leather that is both exciting and promising. I love the way real leather patinas as it wears in age and how a finely constructed handbag grows suppler to the touch with every carry. While my familiarity revolves around buffalo and cow leather, exotic leathers like alligator and ostrich fascinate me because their authentic texture cannot be mimicked by any type of vegan leather cobbler and no one does exotic leather bags better than Farbod Barsum.
With two locations in the world, Farbod Barsum has made themselves the pioneer in fine exotic leather accessories. From their leather wallets to their impressive travel bags, there is something for everyone inside their stores. I’m particularly fond of this cognac mona handbag, and it would also be a lovely statement bag in Marigold. These handbags are not only lovely in appearance but overall masterpieces of art that you can don every day on your shoulder.
As my adoration for good style and classic taste continues throughout my life, so will my love of a classic leather handbag worth investing in.
