Get Your Best Sleep Ever

Even though Winter may be the time when some of us feel like hibernating because of the cold weather and dark days, I find that the changes make me a bit more of an insomniac. Apparently, I’m not alone, over 3 Million people every Winter have trouble sticking to a normal sleep schedule. If you find yourself having trouble sleeping, here are a few things you can add to your bedroom to kick seasonal adaptive depression aside and have the best sleep ever.

How to Sleep Better in Winter

One: Silk Pillowcases

Not only are silk pillowcases great for your hair to keep from tangling and the coolness of the pillow can help you fall asleep better. My favorite brand of silk pillowcase is from Slip.

Two: Essential Oil Pillow Spray

There’s an essential oil for everything these days and I love this brand for when I need a bit of nighttime calm to help me fall asleep. The blend of lavender, vetiver, and chamomile helps reduce anxiety and can improve the quality of your sleep.

Three: Upgrade your Sheets

There’s a saying in the interior decorating world that you should spend more money on things that touch your skin versus things that don’t, which means your sheets should cost more than your curtains. Depending on your heat tolerance at night, will depend on your thread count. These sheets from Matouk have a moderate thread count of high-quality cotton that helps your skin breath and also insulates you from the cold. Learn more about making the bed here

Four: Drink Calming Tea 30 Minutes before your desired bedtime

Sometimes I find that I need a ritual to help me get into the sleep mode which is why I love drinking a cup of calming tea 30 minutes before I want to go to bed. This calming tea from Harney & Son’s is the perfect end to your day.

Bonus: Cozy up in Comfy PJs

Toss out those old sorority T-Shirts and the athleisure you spend your day in, having clothes specifically dedicated to sleeping helps signal to your brain that it’s time to start shutting down for the night. My favorite brand to snuggle up in are from Lake Pajamas and sometimes I’ll switch to these Lunya silk sleep sets when it gets warm out.

Good sleep is essential for maintaining a healthy emotional balance throughout the day. We all know that getting enough sleep will help with weight management, reduce stress and keeps our skin looking fresh. Whenever I find myself tossing and turning at night, I rotate in one of these things to help me get my best sleep ever.
