There are many wonders of Southern culture such as our food, language, sweet demeanors and effortless style in hot weather months, but among those as well lie unique and hidden coastal jewels to travel to when the weather get’s just a little too hot for us Atlantans.

Which is why we love St. Simon’s Island’s King and Prince resort. Like a slice of coastal luxury, this hotel is a staple on the Georgia Coastline and within easy reach from the heart of Atlanta, it makes for the perfect summer travel destination. King and Prince resort King and Prince resort King and Prince resort King and Prince resort King and Prince resort

The first thing you have to know about St. Simon’s Island is that they have entirely grasped the notion of island time.  The locals are never in a hurry to do anything, or go anywhere. It’s a wonderful refresh from the hustle and bustle of traffic on the connector every morning. I crave to live a life as carefree as these people get to indulge in year round.

Walking into the King & Prince is like being lost in a time where Jazz clubs reigned supreme, and girls in flapper dresses and men in suits wandered throughout the halls with their G&T’s and cigarettes hanging daintily from their fingers. Instead, you find the splendor and wonderment of a luxury hotel by the sea, with modern touches and subtle nods to southern heritage through food and decor.

With easy access to the beach and a gleaming turquoise pool, you have everything you need as soon as you step on the property. The only thing you need to worry about is which suit you’re going to wear and to what body of water you decide to drink next to that afternoon. In the evening you can dine at Echo and indulge in some of the chefs spectacular shrimp and grits, and then have your own cocktail party with friends in one of the courtyards hidden around the property.

St. Simon’s island itself is a unique coastal experience with incredible sunrises and a spectacular beach that opens up to sandbars in one of the many low tides during the day. It’s a perfect family getaway and even allows for dogs to join in on the fun, which is what we’ll be planning when we make our return trip in the future.

The King and Prince Resort makes for the perfect vacation by the sea when you want a touch of luxury to your coastal vacation.
