One of the greatest things you can have in your closet is a good navy shirt dress. It transcends decades of bad and ever-changing fashion and is a staple you should have always at the ready when you need to look professional but summertime claims that it’s too hot for pants.

I’ve been looking for a shirt dress that would be appropriate for work but also flattering and feminine. So when Lauren James reached out to me about their seersucker shirt dresses, I pounced at the opportunity to wear one.
As any true Southerner would attest, you can’t really consider yourself Southern if you don’t have one piece of Seersucker in your closet. Be it a hair bow, skirt, tie or a full on seersucker suit, living in the South in the summer basically requires seersucker to be on your rotation throughout this miserably humid and warm months.
Lauren James is your go to for anything and everything seersucker and girly. And when you can even get away with wearing some of the pieces to work, that’s even better. Since this dress is on the shorter side, I would wear this with flats or a low heel and keep the jewelry minimal, like only adding a single pendant necklace opposed to a statement piece.

These pictures are gorgeous!
I LOVE Lauren James, her style is so southern classic and I just adore that. I fully believe everyone needs a shirtdress in their wardrobe, I have a navy one that has been a workhorse for me in the classroom (I’m a teacher) as well as for date night and even to church on Sunday mornings. They’re just awesome pieces!
