Neutral Thanksgiving Outfit

I always scoffed at my friends who lived in the city for wearing the same monochromatic colors day in and day out. They said “black was their signature color” or “black was easy and goes with everything” so that’s why they opted for one shade of clothing instead of the variety of prints and colors that I donned on the regular.  But while living in the city something came over me, I started adopting a monochromatic color scheme. I rarely go outside the blue/white/olive/ brown color wheel now, and when I put together a neutral winter outfit like this one, I get why my friends typically wear the same colors over and over again: it consistently looks classic and chic.

Just because I am adopting a monochromatic scheme for my winter outfits it doesn’t mean that I’m not including color by ways of accessorizing. I still enjoy the unexpected pop of plaid or a colorful pant here and there, but for the most part, my sweaters all act as a neutral base for accessories and I let the layers do the talking.

For the first time this season I had the opportunity to wear my new gloves and realized, I don’t own a single pair of “normal” colored glove. They are either maroon, navy or in this case, Peridot green. But as I said before, I like to have fun with my accessories if I’m going to be wearing gray sweaters and neutral sweater dresses.

I am heading up to Columbus Ohio tomorrow for Thanksgiving and I’m looking forward to getting to explore a new city! I’ve already been mentally packing for everything I need to bring, and I think that these over the knee boots and some insulated tights are going to be stuffed in my suitcase as well. I’ve never been anywhere that gets quite so cold on Thanksgiving so I’m excited about practicing some layering and busting out my favorite cold weather accessories.
