Hello Fall in the South! You are hot as ever and it’s time to face the music that we must drink for the weather we have, not for the weather we want. But, then again- what if I told you you could have both? This little corner of the world that we publish on is here to make all of your culinary desires come true. So if you want to PSL (pumpkin spice latte) up your life but have a drink that’s autumnal and boozy, you can do that! Especially with this apple spice margarita.
This recipe was originally intended to be a PSL knock off that was also knocked up with some tequila for a recipe post on instagram. Dulce Vida is one of the companies I partnered with on Instagram to showcase the variety of products they have and how versatile they are to use in every day cocktailing. If you want to see those, follow this link here.
This recipe was TOO good to keep to myself, or to the ‘gram, and wanted to make sure it got shared as much as possible!
Anyway, back to the PSL inspiration. Apparently making pumpkin juice is extremely time-intensive and truthfully I’m not a person with a lot of time to go around. So while I was browsing Trader Joes, I saw apple cider and I thought, “heck, why not sub this, at least it’ll look pretty!”
But as I was leaving the store, I realized, helloooooo, apple margaritas are a total winner in my book, the only difference is there are some spices in apple cider and it’s typically served warm.
This drink is served over ice, just FYI.
If you’re familiar with mezcal, it has this delicious smokiness and depth to it that would go perfect with apple cider. Since I was working with pure silver tequila, I figured I could amp up the spiciness of this drink with a few shakes of cinnamon and a fresh squeeze of lemon to round it all out.
This is basically a cold tequila hot toddy if you think about it.
But it’s better because it’s an Apple Spice Margarita and it’s going to make all your autumnal wishes come true and you’re going to be able to drink it while it’s still 90+ outside wishing for sweater weather but living in sweater-tank weather.
Girl, I get you.
This is the autumnal drink you need when it's 100 degrees outside in October. It'll put you in a PSL mood without the excessive heat.
- 4 large ice cubes
- 1.5 ounces Organic Silver Tequila, Like Dulce Vida
- 2 ounces Apple Cider
- 1/2 freshly squeezed lemon juice
- garnish with a few shakes of cinnamon and a lemon wedge
In a large glass, add your ice and all of your liquid ingredients. Stir with a cocktail stir. Garnish with a festive straw, a few shakes of cinnamon and a lemon wedge. Enjoy!
If you are making multiple drinks, this recipe doubles/triples/multiplies extremely well. You can interchange "parts" with "ounces".
