Best Paint Colors to Use in a Transitional Home

When we were going through our renovation process, it was important to me to pick colors that wouldn’t be too trendy and would go with all the artwork we have planned to put in the house. The colors had to be on the more colorful side of neutral but not too colorful where we’d have to worry about clashing. We don’t have any desire to repaint the house or rooms anytime soon so we wanted something that would last for another 5+ years. These are the best paint colors to use in a transitional home.

First here’s a quick rundown of the colors and the color numbers we used from Sherwin Williams. This post isn’t sponsored so to be totally transparent, I wanted to use a range of colors from a variety of people, but our contractors were familiar with using Sherwin Williams products so that’s what we went with. I painstakingly went through the entire Sherwin Willaims color book to match the other paint colors that I wanted to use.

These colors are going to enable us to change out pillows, artwork, and furniture colors without having to completely change the wall color. I love how soft the colors are and how they reflect light into each of our rooms. We also wanted to pick a few colors that were historically accurate to the period of our house. Our house was built in the early 1900’s so it was important to me that we picked a few colors that felt true to the time period. I was trying to imagine what Art Deco means today in a few of our rooms and these colors definitely helped achieve that.
