Instagram is a great place. I have met countless new friends and best friends from it and find constant inspiration flipping through my feed, hashtags, and location tags. It’s also helped me to discover one of my favorite “bookworms” who is constantly flooding my feed with a new book in a styled setting, whether it be from the bed, at a coffee shop or on vacation, I’m constantly scribbling new books to read from her recommendations. I’ve asked Alex of the Blonde Bookworm to help me put together a Holiday reading list of her top recommended books to read that will help those hours in the car, plane, or train tick by quickly while you’re on the way to family’s houses for Thanksgiving and beyond.
This novel has been all over the internet and on every bestseller lists for good reason! The story follows Hollywood icon Evelyn Hugo’s life story about her ups and downs in Hollywood, her big breaks and big failures, as well as her extensive love life. This novel was entrancing and heartbreak and kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish!
A Man Called Ove is a charming story about the cranky old man next door. It is a touching novel about the impact you can have on others. I absolutely loved this novel and it quickly made its way into my top five favorites of the year. I would highly recommend it if you’re looking for a feel-good read and you’re not afraid of a few tears.
He Will Be My Ruinis a nail-biting suspense novel about a woman named Maggie who shows up in NYC to help pack up what is left of her best friend’s life. Celine recently committed suicide, but Maggie believes there was fowl play involved. Maggie gets sucked into Celine’s world and puts herself on the radar of a killer who will stop at nothing to cover his tracks. I was totally hooked from the very first page and loved each action-packed chapter. Pick up this novel if you’re a fan of Girl on the Train or other suspense novels.
The Woman in Cabin 10 is a suspense novel set on a luxury cruise liner where Lo Blacklock has been invited along the in order to write a review for a travel magazine. She expects a week of luxury and relaxation, what she doesn’t expect is to witness a passenger being thrown overboard. When she attempts to get to the bottom of the horrible accident, she finds out that all passengers are accounted for. This novel has more twists and turn than I expected and it is definitely a read in one sitting kind of book!
If you’re looking for the next book that’s going to fill the Hunger Games shaped hole in your heart, then look no further. Warcross is a novel about a virtual reality game that has taken the world by storm. When Emika Chen hacks into the biggest Warcross tournament of the year, she gains the attention of the game’s creator Hideo. He and Emika work together to bring down a hacker who is attempting to ruin the Warcoross empire and isn’t afraid to take lives while doing it. Filled with action, sci-fi thrills, and even a little bit of romance, Warcross is a must read!
