Painting Pumpkins

Thank you Decoy for sponsoring this post. Celebrate International Merlot Month this October by using the hashtag #MerlotMe on social!

We had our first cool morning in Atlanta this week. After what seemed like a perpetual summer that came around after the winter that never ended, our first cool morning that arrived in October meant I could finally slip into Fall mode- chunky sweaters, red wine, fall décor, and decorating pumpkins.

I’ve lived in apartments for almost 10 years now, from college to adulthood, and while I love the ease of ownership and lack of responsibility, the thing I miss the most is being able to carve a pumpkin on a back porch with friends, enjoying a cool afternoon and catching up over some rich red wine.

To satisfy this, I have started painting pumpkins instead of carving them and inviting some people over to participate in the decorating. What started as one or two people, has turned into an apartment filled with friends huddled on a white sheet watching Hocus Pocus and channeling our inner artist painting pumpkins and drinking wine.

I’m typically the one who curates the wine selection for the evening and as I was picking up things to nibble on, I decided to go for a couple of bottles of Decoy Merlot since October is International Merlot Month. Can’t argue with celebrating the grape that makes one of my favorite wines!

International Merlot Month is an industry-wide celebration of the Merlot varietal across the globe all October long. We decided to participate by hosting a pumpkin painting and merlot filled Halloween celebration. To celebrate all you have to do is Fall for Merlot this month and pour some in your glass whether you’re out on the town or at home on the couch watching Fall-iday movies.

If you’re looking for something fun to do this October, try having some friends over for some Merlot, channeling your best inner artist and celebrating International Merlot Month by joining in on the #MerlotMe conversation on social media and share how you’re enjoying Merlot this month!
