Shade Garden Oasis Makeover with The Home Depot x Traeger Grills

It’s been a long 3 months of work, but we couldn’t be more excited to share the final reveal of our outdoor entertaining oasis with the Home Depot and Traeger Grills. Our condo’s courtyard had mainly been left to neglect over the past few years. However, with the help of Home Depot and a little elbow grease, we transformed this space into an entertaining oasis with secret garden vibes. Check out our before and after below!

Our courtyard had good bones but just needed a little bit of a facelift to really transform this space into a dreamy garden escape. I opted to highlight what we loved and eliminate the pieces that weren’t working for the area. The Home Depot made this project so easy from start to finish to source all of our materials, herbs, plants, and furniture to transform this place.

The first step for our project was to remove the old dead brush and create a level surface for our new pea gravel.

Once the dead brush and old pine straw were cleared away, I was able to level out the gravel in our dining area to add pea gravel later. Before we laid fresh pea gravel, I went ahead and spray-painted our old Home Depot dining set with flat black Rustoleum paint for a high-end finish.

*Note: IF you live in the South or a humid climate, you really need to pay attention to the temperature and humidity index for the day, as both of these factors will delay and alter your drying time. I started spraying pretty early (around 7am) so that the paint had enough time to dry. One day, unfortunately, it was too humid, so the paint dried with little splotches of roughness. I just took some fine-grit sandpaper to it and then resprayed once it was cool enough.

Once I was done with spray-painting, I tackled the pea gravel. Suppose you haven’t previously installed a foundation where you intend to lay pea gravel. In that case, it’s a good idea to lay landscaping sheeting down to keep your rocks from disappearing into the ground.

We luckily had done this with the previous gravel mix, so I could top it off with fresh pea gravel and used a hoe to rake and spread the gravel smoothly.

After laying nearly 40 bags of mulch, we were finally able to sit back, set the table and relax to enjoy our hard work.

I picked up many beautiful entertaining pieces from Home Depot to make entertaining with friends easy and incredibly stylish. At night, our potting station turns into a prep and serving station where we can store drinks and our dishes cooked on the Traeger.

Let’s talk about the Traeger grill.

Grilling has never been easier than with this grill! I am so impressed with its digital interface, ability to control temperature through your phone and digitally monitor the internal temperature of your meat. Trust me, you can’t mess up your meat when you’re using this grill.

With our Bonnie herbs planted and the Traeger fired up in our new entertaining oasis, we’re guaranteed a fun summer of entertaining ahead.
