Since most us don’t apply sunscreen to the part in our hair, it’s easy to overlook just how much sun exposure we get in the summer. Now that I’ve become aware of the effects of the sun on my skin, I’ve developed an obsession with wearing hats throughout the year, and find an excuse every year to add another straw hat to my collection.
When I travel, I always pack a hat with me, whether it’s a baseball cap or my much beloved packable bow hat from Tuckernuck, I’ve always got something with a wide brim to protect my face and my head from getting any direct sun.
Sure sometimes that leaves me with an unfortunate case of hat hair, but a quick comb and fluff instantly restores my locks to their original state. For those of us with color treated hair, it’s especially important to wear sun protection on our head as the sun will cause your hair to fade faster and turn brassy.
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite straw hats for Spring and now is the perfect time to shop since Bloomingdale’s is having their friends & family from April 6th- 15th sale getting you 25% off all the straw beauties you could want.
