This 2 Minute Productivity Hack Will Change Your Life

It’s easy to let things pile up to the point of an overwhelming amount of dishes sitting in the sink, you have “the chair” that collects your laundry, and the house is in complete disarray. But what if I told you there is a two minute productivity hack that will change your life and keep your home clean and sparkling all year long? Enter your new mindset to tackle mess with this two-minute trick.

Alright, let’s break down a mess real quick.

Generally dishes in a sink pile up one at a time. Each time you place a dish in the sink it takes about 15 seconds to do so.

Clothing piled on a chair takes about 20 seconds to get tossed there.

Dog/ child toys scattered all around the house sit inches away from their “put away” holding space.

The amazing thing about this productivity hack is that we just reframe how long it takes us to keep a mess from piling up. It takes the same amount of time to take care of the item now as it does piling it with other mess.

It takes 15 seconds to put a dish in the dishwasher.

It takes 20 seconds to fold your shirt or hang it up.

It takes a few seconds (and inches) out of your way to put your dog/kid toys away. You can even get your animal/child involved with the clean-up process and make it a game!

Essentially, we are saying “if the task takes less than 2 minutes, do it now. Don’t put it off until later.”

If you currently have a pile of mess to clean up around the house, block some time on your digital calendar (yes really) to take care of it. Yes, this first “clean up” may be a bear, but once it’s clean you can employ the two-minute productivity hack every day to keep it from getting that way again.

I swear it works! I’m a former Mistress of Mess who now has a spotless home and a well-organized closet. It just takes doing it now instead of putting it off for later.
