Preheat oven to 350°F.

Spray a loaf pan with baking spray.

In a medium bowl, whisk together baking powder, salt, and flour, then set aside. In a small bowl, mix together cinnamon and sugar for topping.

Use a stand mixer to beat together butter, sugars, and spices. Add in eggs and vanilla and mix until smooth, scraping the sides when necessary.

With the mixer on low, alternate adding in flour mixture and milk and mix until just combined. Fold in the finely chopped apple pieces and pecans.

Pour the batter into the pan, and top with a line of apple slices down the center.

Sprinkle on cinnamon sugar mixture for topping.

Bake for 50-55 minutes until the bread is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
