As Memorial Day is coming up, it’s a no brainer to spend your entire weekend outside. It’s the kick-off to summer and time to shed your wintery blues for tan-lines and strappy sandals. If you’re not indulging in a picnic this weekend but want to opt for some patio time instead, there are plenty of affordable outdoor furniture options for your outside-the-house summer escape. Most of these four-piece conversations sets are under $500.
Notes on Outdoor Furniture
- Materials vary however I prefer wood outdoor furniture because I like how the wood has aged over time to create that dark gray hue. This is how the furniture looked brand new. Just be aware of that as you go to purchase wood outdoor furniture. Most people who don’t have covered patios opt for resin or metal.
- Don’t get hung up on the cushions in the furniture you want is a good price. Some of the cushions that come with patio sets may not be in your preferred color palette, however, cushions are easily replaced by sturdier sunbrella ones. These taupe cushions didn’t come with the patio set originally, we were able to sell theold cushions on craigslist and put that money towards new cushions.
- Do consider storing your cushions inside if you don’t have a covered patio. During the pollen downpour of Spring, we typically take our patio cushions inside whenever we’re not using them. That way, we don’t have to worry about dirty or wet (if it’s raining) cushions ruining our next outdoor moment.
- Do make sure you decorate your patio. I like using a mix of outdoor string lights to channel my favorite bistro, throw pillows, and accent stools and tables for additional places to prop plates or cups while we’re entertaining at home.
