When we renovated our home, we took a slow and collected approach to filling the rooms with furniture. After completing the rest of the house, the final room was our dining room. I had been hunting for months for the right table and upholstered chair to fit the space and finally found the perfect solution from Bassett Furniture.
Thankfully, Bassett Furniture has locations all throughout the United States so after looking at what I liked online, I was able to visit one of their stores near me in Atlanta to see what I would love to have in our home.
Bassett Furniture is known for its quality, artisan-crafted furniture, and its Benchmade collection is made up of heirloom-worthy pieces for a variety of different home styles. Our home leans more to the “modernized historic craftsman”, so we wanted a table that would add that touch of modernity to our craftsman-style dining room.
In our family, we entertain friends frequently, so having a table that was durable, quality, and -most importantly- chairs that were comfortable was top of mind.
A fair warning for everyone out there who wants a custom table, coming to a decision about what our table should look like was daunting with the number of choices I could put together. Thankfully, the design consultants at Bassett Furniture will help you design your dining room and add their expert advice on finishes, fabrics, and styles to make sure you have something made that is a true reflection of your home and style.
After careful consideration and plenty of insight from the Bassett design team, I finally settled on the Conroy Maple dining table in Park Avenue finish and paired it with the Samson upholstered side chair in a fawn-colored dot fabric.
Then there was the consideration of a rug to help our table shine. Bassett’s collection of rugs is incredible, and I love that you’re able to see samples of every colorway offered for their rug collection.
Our home has wood floors, so I was looking for a wool rug that would compliment the red undertones in our hardwoods. The Toledo wool rug struck me with its rich blues and punchy marigolds. It has just enough color to stand out, but not so much that it usurps your attention.
Don’t forget art either! We were able to snag these really unique prints in a floating frame to add a pop of color to our white walls.
On delivery day, it was so rewarding to see our dining room transform into a modern space that still effused historic charm. The number one compliment we get as guests enter our home is how much they love our dining set, and I can’t agree more. It’s truly a showstopping, heirloom quality set that we have, and will continue to get great use out of it for years and dinner parties to come!
